Giant Mucinous Carcinoma Originating from the Appendix: A Case Report

Introduction Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms can involve peritoneal pseudomyxoma or invasion of adjacent organs. This report describes a rare case in which giant appendiceal carcinoma expansively developed the retroperitoneum without perforating abdominal cavity. Case Presentation The patient was 55-year-old woman with no relevant history who admitted to our hospital after imaging examination revealed retroperitoneal tumor. clinical diagnosis tumor involving hedge mucin. underwent right hemicolectomy and partial resection duodenum wall ensure complete resection. Histopathologic findings suggested that arising from appendix. postoperative course uneventful. Although adjuvant chemotherapy performed for 6 months, recurrence 7 years 4 months postoperatively. Nine have passed since surgery, is alive receiving chemotherapy. Conclusion Detailed pathologic examinations originated characteristics contributed extensive growth
